What to Expect
A 3 ½-day immersive physician retreat where we explore a living, holistic approach to the art of patient observation and physical examination through the ancient wisdom of the Tria Principia, a threefold understanding of the body and the fundamental processes of nature.
Course size is limited to 25 participants
This retreat will weave together time in nature, reflective practice, small group work, artistic activity, peer teaching, and clinical case discussion to cultivate new organs of perception for medical practice. Through a threefold study of body morphology, participants will learn to perceive the dynamic relationship between structure and function and discover clinical insights into individual constitutions, disease processes, and therapeutic interventions of in order to access deeper levels of healing. For those interested, additional webinars on how to use the Tria Principia for anthroposophic prescribing will be offered in the weeks following the retreat.

Our Faculty
Adam Blanning, MD
Co-leader of the Medical Section at the Goetheanum & PAAM Education co-director
Adam Blanning practices integrative and anthroposophic family medicine and started his holistic medical practice in 2003. Dr. Blanning lectures and teaches nationally and internationally on topics relating to holistic medicine and the dynamics of human development, with a special interest in supporting children. He is the author of “Understanding Deeper Developmental Needs: Holistic Approaches for Challenging Behaviors in Children” and “Raising Sound Sleepers: Helping Children Use Their Senses to Rest and Self-Soothe”.
Dr. Blanning founded and directs the Denver Center for Anthroposophic Therapies, which offers anthroposophic medicine, therapeutic eurythmy, anthroposophic nursing and rhythmical massage. He works with Waldorf schools in Denver and Boulder as an educational and developmental consultant.

Carmen Hering, DO
Carmen Hering integrates osteopathy with anthroposophic medicine in private practice since 2006. She serves as adjunct faculty at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine and at the Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training (BACWTT). Dr. Hering trains medical students and residents in her clinic and works with schools, teachers and therapists to support children's healthy development.
Dr. Hering founded Live Oak Medicine, an integrative clinic which offers osteopathic and anthroposophic medicine, anthroposophic nursing, and anthroposophic art therapy. She also founded Acorn Community Clinic, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing access to integrative medicine and therapies and co-founded the Foundation for Health Creation, a non-profit organization and community project dedicated to patient education and outreach.
