ANTHROPOSOPHIC MEDICAL TRAINING
Anthroposophic Medical Training—New Paradigms for Truly Holistic Care
Anthroposophic medical trainings are offered for health professionals in 32 different countries and on five continents. These diverse trainings offer sometimes unique schedules and formats, but share a common core curriculum—one agreed on by the international AM training community.
The training program for the U.S. and Canada is sponsored by the Physicians’ Association for Anthroposophic Medicine (PAAM) and is open to all licensed prescribers (MD, DO, ND, NP, PA, DDS and PharmD), as well as students of those disciplines still in training. The AM training program offers multiple types of learning experiences, including intensive training conferences, live online group sessions, in-person clinical mentoring workshops and one-on-one phone/online mentoring. The full AM training curriculum offered by PAAM consists of four Training Conferences and participation in a three-year Clinical Mentoring Program.
Annual Training Conferences (held in late Spring) rotate through four clinical topics, with one special focus each year:
These week-long Training Conferences can be joined at any point. Newcomer groups are offered every year. Training weeks typically feature guest international faculty, practice of healing plant observation, small group discussion and study sessions, movement practice (eurythmy), clinical workshops, and evening presentations devoted to themes of spiritual growth and self-development.
UPDATE: A new four-year cycle of the Annual Training Week will begin in Spring 2022!
The Annual Training Week will be in person for 2022! We will come together at the beautiful Mount Madonna Retreat Center in Watsonville, California (40 minutes from the San Jose International Airport, located in a redwood forest). Dates are Sunday evening, April 3rd, to Sunday morning, April 10th, 2022. Our theme will be “Therapeutic Foundations: Physical, Functional, Emotional, Spiritual”. We will welcome Professor Dr. David Martin, Chair of Anthroposophic Medicine at Witten-Herdecke University, as guest faculty. Next spring’s Training Week will also mark the start of a new course in Anthroposophic Pharmacy, taught by Albert Schmidli (open to pharmacists and licensed prescribers). More details will be announced in the coming months; registration will open in the fall. Please save the dates!
